Please share a memory of Patrick to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Patrick "Pat" Penney, a devoted family man and lover of music, passed away at Whitehills Long Term Care Centre in Hammonds Plains on April 22nd, aged 81. Our hearts are broken. Pat's greatest joy in life was his family, whom he cherished above all else. His love for them was only rivaled by his passion for music, entertaining, and his little dog Jessie. In his younger days, Pat showcased his musical talents as a performer with a family band in Ontario. Outside of his musical pursuits, Pat excelled as a Master Auto Salesman, finding great satisfaction in closing deals and finding just the right car for his many happy customers. Before Alzheimer's disease robbed him of so much, Pat was known for his vibrant personality, his bad jokes, and his love for hosting gatherings at the home he shared with his beloved wife of 40 years, Leona. Pat was an amazingly generous host, who loved being surrounded by family and his many friends, who he would feed to overflowing, and entertain with song and music. Pat and Leona were inseparable partners, sharing a deep love and bond, and created many cherished moments and memories together. Pat is survived by his loving wife Leona, five children, Patrick (Leanne) , Jaye (Susan), David (Christine) , Brian, Daughter Dawn Marie (Parker) , eight adoring grandchildren and their partners Jennifer, Cole, Christine, Catherine, Holden, Thomas, Macy , Tanner and five great-grandchildren Sophie, Lily, Henry, Beau and Levi). He also leaves behind his brothers Paul (Kathy) Mike and David and brother in law Keith Mitchell, Leona’s Family Eileen, Joyce, Doreen, Gwen (Joey) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by His Mom and Dad Joe and Betty(Purcell) Penney, Brother Danny, Sisters- Betty, Nancy and Mary, Sister in law Liz, Daughter in law Cindy, Mother and Father in-law- Gavinna and Rindress MacKenzie, Sister in Law Deborah, Brothers in law Raymond MacKenzie, Wayne Jardine, Ted Trenholm, Joe MacDonald, Ken Anderson. Everyone will fondly remember his warmth, love of life, and generosity, and will miss him terribly. Thank you to the staff at White Hills for their care of Pat for the past 9 months. Special Thank you to Shawna Marchment for helping Leona care for Pat while still at home. Pat's spirit, passion for life, and dedication to his family will be cherished forever in the hearts of those he touched. A celebration of Pat's life will be held on Saturday, April 27th, at TJ Tracy Funeral Home, 71 McQuade Lake Crescent, Bayers Lake, NS. Family and friends will come together to honour his memory from 3PM to 5pm. Internment will occur at a later date, at Black Rock Cemetery, Cape Breton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia, or a charity of your choice.
