Obituary of Blaine Aucoin

Blaine Aucoin Reserve Mines It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Blaine Aucoin, age 64, on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Dell and Joe Aucoin. Blaine was a founding member of the Antique Auto Club, a member of the North Side Boys and the Mustang Club. He was a well-known car guy both for mechanical and body work. He loved his antique cars and would spend many hours looking for rare parts and discussing cars with other auto lovers. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Reserve Mines Fire Dept as well as a member of the hazmat team. When he wasn’t fighting fires, fixing cars or talking shop with the boys, you could find him enjoying a slice (or 2) of pizza. There wasn’t a local pizza shop that didn’t know his name. Blaine is survived by his daughter Deneal Aucoin (Mitch MacLellan); two stepdaughters, Heather (Yule) Wallace, and Holly Robertson; brother, Michael (Marie) Aucoin; sister, Mona Budden; brother-in-law, Gordie Poth; several nieces and nephews; as well as his fur babies, Acadia, Sally and Sassy. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife and soulmate, Deborah Goudreau Aucoin; sisters Geri and Patsy, brother-in-law, Teddy Budden; nephew, Donnie Budden and godson, Michael Aucoin. His garage pal Simba passed a few days before Blaine and will be waiting to meet him. Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held Thursday, April 25, 2024, from 4 – 7 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2024, all taking place at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199). A reception will be held after the service at the Dominion Legion, Neville St., from 3 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cape Breton SPCA.
